Safaafir |
Iraqi maqam is the classical modal music of Iraq, characterized by improvising within a collection of musical traditions. Safaafir performs the maqam with its traditional instrumentation of santour (hammered dulcimer), jowza (spike fiddle) and dumbek (goblet drum). |

Chicago Public Schools Arabic World Language Program |
Students in the Chicago Public Schools Arabic World Language Program from Durkin Park and Volta Elementary schools and Lindblom Math & Science Academy High School play traditional musical instruments, sing Arabic songs, and perform a variety of dances and debkehs.
